To all in this thread...we ride bikes. This is nothing to take with any degree of seriousness (unless your paycheck depends on it). What matters is enjoyment, which is to be had at any level. If that eludes you, find another sport. Now go ride.
A big issue I have with helmet manufacturers and retailers is labeling. It's either impossible to track down a list of standards a helmet meets, it's buried in layers of fine print or it's completely mislabeled from website to website. Take for example the Giro Remedy, it's only the Remedy CF that has the ASTM certification and not the base model. But it's incredibly easy to miss unless you just happened to have been switching back and forth between both models on Giro's website and noticed the slight switch in the "features" list. Lots of retailers have it listed wrong on their websites as well.
@PLC07 When it comes down to it, you can take any bike down any kind of trail if you really wanted to. There is a lot more to a DH bike than just more travel. It's a completely different ride experience versus an XC bike, no matter what speed you are going at or how smooth the trail is. The same holds true for your car analogy.
In the US, Park/Forest rangers have always been peace officers, so they have authority to perform law enforcement duties such as issuing tickets. I'm not sure what that has to do with Obama though.
For being a "pro" team, I didn't really get the Continental-Orange Team video. There's much more impressive riding posted every day on here from your average mountain biker. At least make sure everyone on the team is hitting the small road gap before featuring it in your video...just saying.
I wonder how many times he needs to bleed his brakes. I am thinking on a daily basis, LOL. Great vid/write up.
Yeah, I'm not getting the title either.
@joevcavell - On a weekend, 2 hours driving is nothing. Plus you have access to a good transportation system that'll get you in the Alps faster and cheaper than it would take me to get out West here. So pluses and minuses to both sides.
@JonathanCarre - Out East there's lots of good riding close at hand. The only place where it's really difficult to find good riding in the US is either in the heartland or way down south.
Once again, no titties and beer...damn you PB for messing with my emotions like that!
I can't believe someone is e-hating on this.
adidas doesn't support mountain biking? Why do they have a freeride team then? http://www.adiridas.com/ About Us
